The zone defined as the Non-Volley-Zone in the USA Pickleball official rulebook, is referenced frequently throughout this course. For the purpose of being concise and to use the term that is familiar to most people, the Non-Volley-Zone will be referred to as the "Kitchen" for the entirety of the course. The Non-Volley-Zone lines will also be referred to as the Kitchen lines. Although it is important to be acquainted with the official terminology, the widespread popularity, and thus familiarity, of the term "Kitchen" makes it most practical to use the informal term.
